THE Princes Highway between Winchelsea and Waurn Ponds will become a well worn track for buyers of a 23ha lifestyle property.
The Melbourne buyers secured the property at 300 Barwon Tce, Winchelsea, for $1.05 million after auction on Saturday.
Richardson, Newtown agent Ken McDonald said the Edwardian house amid a superb garden setting attracted the buyers, who were seeking a property close to Deakin University.
“They like the house. It’s got a great country feel, a fantastic setting in the old red gums and privacy because it is set back from the road,” he said.
“It’s got very easy access to Deakin University, which for one of them is important,” Mr McDonald said.
“People are just realising that with the dual road, Winchelsea is not far away and an easy drive.”
The property is also set up for equestrian pursuits, with four dams, five paddocks, a barn and horse facilities.
Meanwhile, local buyers competed for a large rural property at 60 Lauders Lane, Winchelsea.
Mr McDonald said the four-bedroom house on a 1.05ha property sold at auction for $607,000.
“They were Winchelsea people looking to upgrade,” he said.
